The Position:
The Marketing Specialist is responsible for creating, planning, coordinating, and executing communications and marketing objectives in collaboration with Marketing and Development staff and other media partners to communicate YWCA Charleston’s values and mission to all audiences.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, graphic design, or digital media. Equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
  • 2-4 years of professional work experience in writing, design, production, and execution of marketing collateral, campaigns, and strategies.
  • Proven experience as a marketing coordinator or similar role.

Additional Requisites:
  • Demonstrate proficiency with creative desktop and web-based software, such as Canva.
  • Experience with marketing elements and market research methods, SEO/social media engagement, digital marketing trends, and design principles.
  • Working knowledge of CRM operations, analytics programs, and organizational reporting, such as SEO/social media.
  • Sharp attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Self-directed, prioritized, problem solver, and can exercise sound judgment.
  • Manage confidential information with diplomacy and tact.
  • Willingness to work outside of normal business hours, for events and time-sensitive projects.
  • Capable of working under pressure and motivated to succeed in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Must pass a criminal background check.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the Director of Development and creative agency resource partners to develop effective messaging, promotions, and collateral to reach and impact key community segments, prospects, donors, board, members, volunteers, etc.
  • Brainstorm and develop ideas for creative marketing campaigns and present recommendations aligned with marketing and development goals.
  • Execute assigned tasks in collateral design, production, promotional projects, and association events.
  • Maintain cross-functional relationships with staff and internal departments to keep community messaging up to date regarding programs and services.
  • Management of scheduling and execution of digital and printed campaigns, direct mail, emails, e-newsletters, newsletters, and other collateral.
  • Review and proofread written communication deliverables for spelling, grammar, factual accuracy, impact, and appropriate branding voice.
  • Curate social media marketing, videography, schedules, materials; photos, graphics, logos, videos, etc.
  • Copywriting responsibilities are assigned as needed.
  • Provide social media copywriting and graphic design support for marketing and communications.
  • Monitor social media pages for accuracy and branding while maintaining relationships with local and national partner pages.
  • Update the website with current information about events, programs, and services when provided.
  • Supervise and direct the assignments of student interns.
  • Collaboratively execute Marketing and Development materials for special events as a point person for outside creative agency representatives.
  • Support all fundraising, advocacy, and events.
  • Review and evaluate digital media analytics for monthly Marketing and Communications Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) report.
  • Maintain team dashboard with regularly updated data for the website, social media pages, email campaigns, etc.
  • Coordinate constituent information with fund development regarding marketing and communications prospects and stakeholders in the association.
  • Assess industry best practices, technology trends, and current organizational procedures to strategize areas of growth and improvement in marketing and communications data management.
  • Review and help document marketing and communications expenses for accuracy and submission of reports to the finance department.
